We started The Surf & Sales Summit because bigger is not always better.
We wanted to create an opportunity for sales professionals to learn and grow, while being able to fully disconnect in a beautiful and inspiring location with like-minded peers. We were confident our guests would value the training and coaching we offered, but the impact Surf & Sales has had on our guests, and on us, has exceeded our wildest expectations.
What has surprised us the most is how many attendees have had a much deeper, more meaningful experience. Many have been inspired to make a big leap in their career, or face a painful challenge that was holding them back. Story after story rolled in of how they have used this opportunity, and the supportive, safe environment our events provide, to dig deep and make big moves, in work and in life.
Surf & Sales began as an event. It has become a community - and we all need that, now more than ever.
We still provide fresh, impactful content at every Surf & Sales event, but we’ve learned that the most valuable thing we can provide is you. Every single Surf & Sales event has been magic. Every group has gelled and bonded. Each group is still closely connected and communicating regularly. Guests have hired each other, started new ventures together, and cheered each other on through all kinds of life and career milestones.
Our job is simply to create the space where the magic can happen, and invite a group of adventurous, open-minded sales pros to join us. The rest is easy.

Scott Leese is a 6x Startup Sales Leader, 4x Founder, and 3x Author with numerous industry awards for excellence in sales leadership. One of the top startup sales leaders in the country, he is a Strategic Advisor to companies around the world with a resume that includes working with 12 unicorns and being part of 11 exits. Through domestic and international consulting, he has trained an army of salespeople thousands strong while coaching founders and VPs alike. A highly sought-after consultant, advisor, leader, and sales trainer, Leese has a proven record of success building and scaling businesses from the ground up.
Leese puts his 20+ years of sales and leadership experience to use as the CEO & Founder of both Scott Leese Consulting and The Surf & Sales Summit. Richard and Scott also co-host the highly successful “Surf and Sales Podcast”.
Scott lives in Austin, Texas, but “home” is in the lineup in Playa Grande, Costa Rica.
ABOUT RICHARD
It's always about the human to human connection. Whether it's personal or professional, or as Richard likes to call it "Per-fessional", Creating space for authentic relationships is the primary reason Richard, Scott and Jeff created Surf and Sales. "We weren't getting what we wanted out of traditional sales conferences, so we decided to make our own based on what we knew people truly craved, community. We knew the strongest relationships are built during the 'in-between' moments even more than any session someone attends, so that's what we created."
Bringing humanity back into sales is the foundation of Richard's GTM and sales training philosophy. With 20+ years of sales and Saas experience he helps organizations grow and scale their sales team into real and measurable results. He's the author of The Seller's Journey, co-host of The Surf and Sales podcast and is a 4x Salesforce Top Sales Influencer to follow. He firmly believes you're never too old to learn how to surf. Speaking from real experience of course.
ABOUT Jeff
Jeff is the CEO of Eli Technologies, a venture-backed fintech company aiming to make clean energy and electrification affordable for all.
For nearly two decades, Jeff has been a founder, sales and growth leader, investor, and consultant at the intersection of technology and social impact, and most of all enjoys building purposeful teams that get shit done. Prior diving into tech startups, as Deputy Field Director in 2008 and Senior Advisor in 2012, Jeff was instrumental in developing the groundbreaking tech-driven organizing strategy of Barack Obama’s two presidential campaigns.
Jeff surfs every chance he gets, and admits that if the waves a really good in Playa Grande, you might have trouble finding him on dry land.
